This series reunites director Takeshi Onaka, who teamed up about 10 years ago on Neko to Mata, with voice actors Tasuku Hatanaka and Takuma Nagatsuka. The tense, tight two-step rhythm and groovy bassline are expressed through elegant visuals with an acidic touch. In previous WORKS, ASCII art-style visual expression was created using After Effects, but this time, tool development was carried out with Claude Code, successfully building a low-cost workflow. The creature seated at the center is inspired by venomous organisms such as the Asian tiger mosquito and the blue-ringed octopus, pursuing a uniquely original mashup.

For the 2026 residency call, we produced the teaser visual and teaser movie. Building on the foundation of the program’s activities and its visual identity cultivated to date, we designed the colors and materials. Drawing motifs from Nobeoka’s culture and climate, we created tactile visual and cinematic expressions that are rooted in the region’s character and attuned to creators’ passion for making.

A series of short animated films created for *Synapusyu*, TV Tokyo’s program for infants and toddlers. The story follows a group of bread characters who secretly sneak out of a bakery and encounter various foods under the moonlight, dancing together as they go. The hand-drawn animation combines playful, organic movement with a kyogen-inspired vocal performance and the repetitive rhythm of “Pan-pa-pan!” While each episode follows the same basic structure, the sounds and dances change with every new food character, creating a visual experience that encourages children to clap their hands and move their bodies.

**"Appo-kun and Appuppu"** is an animated short created for the TV Tokyo children's program Synapusyu. The film follows Appo-kun, a cheerful apple character, as he cycles through a variety of facial expressions and invites children and parents to join in a playful face-making game inspired by the Japanese expression “appuppu.” Imitating facial expressions is one of the most natural ways for infants and toddlers to engage with others. This work was designed around simple character shapes, repetition, and rhythm to encourage children to smile, imitate, and actively participate while watching. uwabami was responsible for the character design, animation, and direction. Rather than creating a passive viewing experience, the goal was to create a piece that encourages parents and children to make faces together and share spontaneous reactions through play.

By linking shots that remain open to multiple interpretations, we aimed to create imagery in which the predicative elements of each shot—verbs and adjectives associated with the motifs—come to the fore, without relying on the reading of symbolic motifs.

Created the animation for “Kuma Toki wa,” broadcast on ETV’s Utatte Manabo. I was in charge of character design, direction, and backgrounds. The content teaches three kinds of measures: measures to take if you encounter a bear, measures to avoid coming across one, and measures to prevent bears from entering town. The aim was to convey these measures in a fun, approachable way, so that children can actually reenact them from the video and learn how people and bears can coexist in their respective environments.

Through a being in the shape of a girl who continues to drift without being able to become a snow crystal, I expressed the feeling of being unable to take the same form as those around you because of slight differences in conditions. Humans appear only as large hands, never showing their faces or bodies. The warmth of the hand she first touches causes her to lose her crystal form, and in the final scene she drifts back onto that same hand. The same human warmth is both what transforms her and, in the end, what receives her. I placed this kind of touch, which cannot be reduced to a single simple meaning, at the center of the work. I also sought to depict blue not merely as a symbol of sadness, but as a color containing the coldness of rain, light, the sensation of wetness, and transparency. I wanted the ending not to be closed off as either salvation or despair, but to leave room for it to be read as either loneliness or comfort.

The work begins with the idea of portraying the virtual singer “Hika-ji” as a being that contains multiple layers of wounds, and visualizing a sense of life that includes her fluctuations and fragility. Set in a seashore, a symbolic space of transience, the work layers the continuous flow of time in animation with fragments of time captured in film photographs, bringing forth both emotions that keep flowing and memories that remain still. Through physical alterations to the photographs and the use of blurring effects, the work attempts to abstractly visualize the sensation of experiences etched within her, surfacing as layered traces.

Ending theme for the TV anime "With You and the Rain." “filled” as the antonym of “empty” Even when we don’t know what kindness or doing the right thing looks like, there are moments when we’re unexpectedly comforted by the time we spend with someone or something. When you’re struggling, I hope there’s someone or somewhere you can go to and let your feelings out. They don’t need to answer; it could be a pet, a doll, a fictional being, or even yourself. Even if you know you’ll lose that presence someday, there are times when the moments you share now feel undeniably meaningful. Perhaps that is a small prayer to keep living, even while carrying feelings that can’t be put into words. Not denying loneliness. But not locking it away either. I wanted to depict the kind of time that gently gathers up the identity of that warmth as it gradually takes shape. I created this work hoping that, for those who watch it, it would become a time of quietly facing the emotions deep in the heart, a time in which something slowly begins to feel full.

A short anime adaptation of a story Yuichi Nakamaru has been writing himself for about 15 years. It tells the story of Kikkun, an extraterrestrial life form who comes from a distant planet with the goal of invading Earth. As the members of the Japan invasion team grow increasingly fond of how comfortable life in Japan is, they begin to forget their original mission and instead come to love Japan—and even decide to protect Japan, or rather, the Earth. Nakamaru himself voices the protagonist, Kikkun. This is a work packed with Nakamaru’s passion, as he has been involved in every stage of its creation. It airs every Wednesday on TOKYO MX during “Goji ni Muchuu!”, and the companion program “Kikkun no Choitashi!” is also broadcast every Thursday morning.

Sakugo, a stray cat he met after escaping from the facility. This is a slice-of-life short anime that captures a casual moment while Shikou, who dies if he stops thinking, and Sakugo, who thinks relatively little, are on the run from the facility.
