A synthwave sound that evokes a night drive—this MV portrays sweetly seductive “cuteness” and a somewhat wistful melancholy through the texture of city pop. It multilayeredly captures the midnight neon, the inside of a car, a diner, and the feelings of a devilish girl. The retro 1980s mood that permeates the entire video serves as the core direction, intertwining “nostalgia” and the “present,” while cinematic lighting, muted colors, and the atmosphere created by the small objects inside the car and diner evoke the story’s nostalgia. Add her sweet yet provocative vocals and sharp dance moves, and the instability of the night, wavering emotions, the “inescapable temptation” and the “inescapable reality” all intersect. Built from Synthwave × retro cool × a modern idol, this music video invites viewers on a cinematic late-night drive—a story of temptation and escape.

Themeing on the contemporary sense of being “enhanced,” this video work interweaves glamour and Latin passion. By layering fabric textures and paint-like animation in multiple dimensions, and using tracking to seamlessly blend live action with 3DCG, it creates a sense of buoyancy in which the real and virtual seem to breathe within the same space. Inspired by the lyrical world, where even heartbreak is “embellished” and turned into a joke, the concept of “enhancing” is reimagined as a positive energy that illuminates the idol’s very presence, beyond the framework of lookism. This dance music video combines sensuality and strength, presenting self-confidence that radiates from within and provocative expressions carried by the rhythm of the dance.

I participated as one of the directors of the music video for Be:FIRST’s song “Scream.” The dance scenes were directed by Kensaku Kakimoto, and the members’ solo scenes were directed by Ritsuko Nomura.
