Kouhei Nakama (WOW) once again collaborated with director Hibiki Yoshizaki of Studio Khara to produce the opening sequence for Season 2 of the anime Kaiju No. 8, following their work on the first season. The sequence visually expresses the inner turmoil and emotional conflict of Kafka Hibino / Kaiju No. 8, caught between his human and monster selves. The opening theme, “You Can’t Run From Yourself,” was written specifically for the series by AURORA, the renowned singer from Norway. Kaiju No. 8 Official Website https://kaiju-no8.net/en/

Created from discussions with Studio Colorido director Kyo Yoshizaki, this video visualizes the question, “Where do kaiju come from, and what is their purpose?” Set to “Abyss” performed by YUNGBLUD, it abstractly depicts, in a single continuous shot, the process by which cells born in the deep sea grow and divide before emerging on land as a kaiju, while interweaving the characters’ emotions.
