Three people move to Akiruno City in the suburbs, dreaming of Tokyo, and begin living together in a shared apartment.
Among them are a rabbit whose admiration for Tokyo has turned into jealousy, a bear who still purely longs for Tokyo, and a boy whose admiration has somehow disappeared.
In contrast to the lyrics, which are written around the vast expanse of Tokyo, the MV’s animation unfolds inside a small apartment.
To portray the conflicts that arise in communal living, it was necessary to set the story not amid the glittering neon, noise, and broad avenues of Tokyo described in the lyrics, but in a shabby apartment quietly standing in the suburbs. Even in the lives of the three, who become increasingly listless as they fail to fit into Tokyo, there is a hierarchy, and a group dynamic.
The story, which unfolds only within the “room,” the smallest unit of society, evokes the smallness and sadness of these characters.
The video incorporates hand-drawn animation, photo collages, and live-action footage, with the aim of shifting the impression the MV gives from fantasy toward something more real.
