I Choose Joy

2021

Description: Due to the pandemic, Broadway theaters were shut down, and actors spent a year and a half in limbo. Racism also worsened, and hate crimes targeting Asians ran rampant. That is New York City, USA. It is easy to confront negative events with anger. However, those of us living in this city still choose to pursue the dreams and ideals we want to achieve here. Because that is the “JOY” in life. - - - - - - - - - - We expressed our reflections on the events and emotions experienced uniquely by spending the extraordinary years of 2020–2021 in New York, together with Asian musical theater performers active on Broadway, set to original music. Winner of the Jury Award at the New York International Film Award.
