At the art and lifestyle festival “Tokyosaï 2024,” held in France in February 2024, we created the augmented reality work “Ukiyo.e AR” in collaboration with “Tokyo Tokyo,” an initiative by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government that promotes the appeal of Tokyo both in Japan and abroad. Eight AR animations were installed throughout the venue, drawing on Utagawa Hiroshige’s “One Hundred Famous Views of Edo” while reimagining contemporary Tokyo as original pixel art. Among the game participants who found all of these AR experiences and shared them on Instagram Stories, a lottery was held and airline tickets to Tokyo were awarded as a prize.
