Hekohyon Nine | FICFYON NINE [2009 remix] | Re-edited in 2009 (original version produced in 2006) | 5 min. 48 sec. This work was planned and produced in conjunction with participation in “Toride Art Project 2006.” Except for the puppets in the work, the riverbank, buildings, river, sky, and other elements are all real things filmed while staying in Toride City. By collaging these elements and layering model animation, a “landscape of memory” that does not actually exist was reconstructed. The exhibition presented at “Toride Art Project 2006” was a video installation (image projection on walls) in a former sewage treatment tank space within the site of an abandoned sewage treatment plant called “Shuumatsu Shorijo” (“Final Processing Plant”). The excessively wide aspect ratio of the screen was determined by the proportions of the concrete wall at the time. (Width: 7 m; using three projectors) For a solo exhibition the following year, in 2007, a first “re-edited version” was produced. Materials obtained during a trip to the Spring Koshien tournament (people, national flags, audio, etc.) were added. In 2009, a second re-edited version of this work was produced. With music and sound design by Morihiko Hara, all audio was replaced.

Columbos｜2012｜9 min. 15 sec. A "semi-mystery told through a fractured narrative" that unfolds in a television drama soundstage built around an anamorphic spatial composition. Original model figures are composited with 3DCG backgrounds and sets. Based on stop-motion animation techniques, the work uses After Effects to create the texture of slow-motion footage shot with a high-speed camera. Grand Prix for Best Animated Short in the International Short Film Competition at the 53rd Krakow Film Festival (Poland/2013), Honorary Mention in the Computer Animation/Film/VFX category at Ars Electronica Festival 2014 (Austria/2014).
