We considered motifs and methods of communication in order to express that, even among disaster survivors, there is a range of feelings about whether the 10-year milestone since the disaster feels like “already” or “still.” We chose moss because of its irreversible progression and because, from the outside, it is difficult to determine how long it has been there. The time span of ten years, along with the time and efforts that continue beyond it, are succinctly expressed by the mist flowing between the patches of moss.
