In 2017, Daimaru celebrated its 300th anniversary. As part of the celebration, we planned and produced a mirror installation made of flowers gathered together as a symbol of gratitude to our customers and as a festive launching point toward the next generation. Approximately 800 movable motors controlled the opening and closing of some 3,000 petals filling an ellipse 5 meters long and 3 meters high, and sensors installed in the piece detected the presence of people standing before it, reflecting their forms like a mirror and also rendering programmed text and patterns.
