This work was inspired by the simple question I once had while playing Pokémon: “What happens to the Pokémon that got away?” Created as a juvenile story together with novelist Yusaku Kitano, it depicts the beginnings of research encountered through play in a secret-base-like setting, with the goal of conveying to children the message that curiosity and a spirit of inquiry are what drive us to open up the world.

-STORY- In the distant future. A girl was being used in a project to recreate a lost city in virtual space. Sachi, a lonely girl hospitalized for “treatment for an incurable disease,” falls in love with a boy she sees from her hospital room, Ryo, who seems to be on his way to school. Confused by her first-ever feelings, Sachi remembers Ryo during an experiment and ends up summoning him into the virtual world.
