This film is adapted from “Muō no Rigyo” from ”Ugetsu Monogatari” by Akinari Ueda, a magic-realistic tales written in Japan’s Edo period, also known as the base story of “Ugetsu” a film by Kenji Mizoguchi. I paradoxically emphasized the subtle “kai’i (怪異)” - a Japanese word indicates something mysterious, weird, orphic and sometimes dangerous - in it by reconstructing the storyline to be rational and interpretable. I used Photogrammetry to obtain the unique bumpy texture and make the weird scenery in a dream. 上田秋成著『雨月物語』の一篇「夢応の鯉魚」の物語を改変し、フォトグラメトリ技術を用いて3Dアニメーションとして映像化したものです。 不条理な出来事の起こる怪異小説をできる限り合理的に解釈できるように大幅に改変することで、それでもなお濾しきれない残滓のような現代の怪異を逆説的に提示しようと試みました。 また、フォトグラメトリという反射・透過・動きなどを苦手とするある意味不完全な技術を用いて得た独特の質感の3Dモデルを使うことで、夢の中のどこかあやしいような情景を作り出そうと試みました。 ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Voice describes a room and a life in it. This video consists from stuffs in a room and voices calling them. By using 3D models generated with Photogrammetry and a list of nouns in a rhetorical manner, I tried to delineate a room and a life in it as a fragmentary arrangement. ある部屋のなかの物品と、物品を呼ぶ無機質な声が同期する映像。 静止したフォトグラメトリ3Dモデルと名詞の羅列という文体を用いて、部屋とその住人の生活・感情を断片的に配置として描出しようと試みた。

浮足立った誘いも、親密な会話も、悲しい知らせも、遠い(“tele”)声/音(“phone”)として運ぶことで人々を一瞬にして繋いでしまう電話の体験は、今も昔もその接続のぎこちなさにおいて変わらない。 電話を待つ時間や、ざらついた音質や、ほんの少しの遅延や、遠く離れた2地点間の時差は、今もなお、受話器の向こう側に耳を澄ませることを我々に要求するし、さらには遠い過去と繋がっているかのような錯覚をももたらす。 その制限ゆえに”もっと遠い声”を聞かせてくれる電話は、隔離を強く感じる今日においてこそ現実的かつクリティカルなモチーフだ。
