焚き火のような作品を作りたかった。
焚き火を囲んでいるときに、言葉や視線を交わさなくても生まれる静かな場が好きだった。
焚き火には感情移入するべき主体も、キャッチするべき情報もない。
それなのに、ずっと眺めていられる理由を、”連続性”にあると仮定してみた。
この作品は、不均一で、非同期な映像がいくつか提示され、一つの場をつくっている。
いずれの映像も、継ぎ目を感じさせない映像に仕立てた。それでも映像それぞれは、単なるループかもしれない。
けれど、それらを複数並べて、一つの空間に並置することで焚き火にも似た、連続性が生まれるのではないかと考えた。

I wanted to make a work like a “bonfire”. I am interested in a quiet place that is made around a bonfire without exchanging words or glances with other people. There is neither a subject to be emotionally involved in a bonfire nor information to receive or catch. I hypothesized that “continuity" is the reason why we can keep looking at a bonfire. Several asynchronous images are presented to make a single space in this work. All the images are made to look seamless. Even so, each of the images may simply be a loop. However, I thought that a “continuity” like that of a bonfire could be made by juxtaposing multiple images in a single space.
