I wanted to create a music video for a song by Hinata Shishido, whose work I’ve long been fond of. The concept took shape during a year when I often found myself thinking about life and death. While reflecting on and learning a little about religion, it struck me that the diaristic lyrics and the music’s oriental feel would suit a religious atmosphere. From the prop styling of the photo that became the main visual, I expanded on the idea and created it using illustration, animation, photography, and live-action footage.
