・作品コンセプト
両面に映像投影可能な和紙製障子プロジェクションマッピングによるメディアアートの展覧会。
本展では、厚口の和紙を障子紙として複数重ね、プロジェクターの光が裏側に透過しにくい性質を持たせている。
この性質を利用し、和紙の風合いを残しながら、障子の表と裏に異なる映像を投影することが可能になった。
表には、さいたま市内の120の地名と伝説をイラスト映像化しており、障子の枠一つ一つにそれぞれ異なる映像が投影されている。
裏には、さいたま市の現在の風景をコラージュした映像を投影します。
このように過去と現在という相反する要素を同一の障子枠内で表現することにより、「なにもない」と言われがちな、さいたま市のアイデンティティを相反する時間軸から捉え直す試み。
片面だけを使った影の障子プロジェクションマッピングは一般的だが、両面に映像投影可能かつ枠一つ一つに別々の映像を投影した和紙製障子プロジェクションマッピングは日本で初めての試みとなった。

・作家コメント
大学時代、東京23区の郷土資料館を全て巡るということをしていた。
地域の歴史を数時間かけ、頭に叩き込んだ後、現在の街を歩くと風景がガラッと変わって見えた。
古道を歩くと、昔広がっていた雑木林が眼前に現れるようだった。
自分の脳内にインストールされた歴史が現実との対比の中でくっきり浮かび上がる瞬間。
これが異世界を旅しているようで気持ちよかった。頭に入った前提情報さえ変われば、
街はガラッと装いを変える。
お前はどこに行ってもいいし、色々な可能性があると街が語り掛ける瞬間だ。
自分は小さい頃から歴史が好きだったが、
これは無意識に、ここではないどこかや無数のあったかもしれない世界を
追うのが楽しかったのかもしれない。
今回の展示を通じて、私が郷土資料館で感じていたような過去と現在の対話によるカタルシス体験を再現したい。
それがさいたま市のアイデンティティを再発見する契機になれば嬉しい。

An exhibition of media art using projection mapping on shoji screens made of washi paper, which can project images on both sides.
In this exhibition, multiple layers of thick washi paper are used as shoji paper to make it difficult for the light from the projector to penetrate to the reverse side of the paper.
Using this property, it is possible to project different images on the front and back sides of the shoji while retaining the texture of the washi.
On the front, 120 place names and legends of Saitama City are illustrated, and different images are projected on each frame of the shoji.
On the back, a collage of images of Saitama City's current landscape is projected.
By expressing these conflicting elements of the past and present within the same shoji frame, this is an attempt to recapture the identity of Saitama City, which is often said to have "nothing," from a conflicting time axis.
Shadow projection mapping using only one side of a shoji is common, but this was the first attempt in Japan to project images on both sides of a shoji and to project separate images on each frame made of Japanese paper.
This work was selected for the Saitama International Art Festival's publicly solicited program.

When I was in college, I visited all the local archives in the 23 wards of Tokyo.
After spending a few hours getting a head start on the history of the area, I walked around the city today and the landscape looked completely different.
Walking along the old roads, it was as if a wooded area that once existed appeared before my eyes.
The moment when the history installed in one's brain emerges clearly in contrast with reality.
It was a pleasant feeling as if I was traveling in a different world. If only the information in my head could be changed,
The city changes its appearance in a flash.
It is the moment when the city tells you that you can go anywhere you want and that there are many possibilities.
I've loved history since I was a little girl,
Perhaps it was subconsciously enjoyable to follow a world that was not here, or a world that could have been countless other worlds.
Perhaps it was because I subconsciously enjoyed chasing after worlds that may have existed countless times before, or somewhere else.
Through this exhibition, I hope to recreate the cathartic experience of dialogue between the past and the present that I felt at the local museum.
I would be happy if this could be an opportunity to rediscover the identity of Saitama City.
